The Challenge: Transparent company on Wired

  • Mark · 2 years ago
Esteban - great article and post. There is still a lot of fear, and it's difficult for a company to move at 'blog speed'. It's also clear that Redfin CEO was a desperate man going down the tube and decided to risk it all. That's an easier thing to do when your on the edge of the prescipice than when your still 20 feet away and can still argue that your not being drug over the edge. That said, if a few more people do it, more will be willing to follow. At some point though, I predict the novelty wears off and it stops working like magic. It also helps to have a 'whistle blower' position. If your just blogging that your company can't get it together when others can and do....I'm not sure it would work so well.

Indeed, as a lot of things thise days, once something is not novel, people regard it as natural or don't regard it at all.

I feel I need to clarify the "crap" part of my post. For some time now I've been feeling like I don't know what I'm talking about, and on a purely ego basis I welcomed some "recognition" from the sheer fact a well known magazine wrote something in the same line of thought. It was just me reassuring myself :)

Yes there's a lot of good info in that issue. I'm still trying to comb through it all.
