I certainly respect your decision on this... I know David has torn over it many times himself. I struggle a bit too as one day I might want to write about something related to social media, like this recent event I went to. I link out to a few of the other attendees who are "serious" about their blogs because social media is their business. What do they think when they visit my site, and leave commnets on my topical post that is found between a cartoon cat video and another update on my antics bolting together a building?
I'm rationalizing to myself that I'm not good enough at any single thing to be a compelling read, but I might have a hope of being quirky enought to be interesting due to the rather unique mashups of technology, introspection / self discovery, and building / mechanical projects.
Mark
yeah, like Mark said, I've agonized over this. I look at six consecutive posts about chicken coops, boats, waders, clams, shaving the dog's ass, and a messed up embedded video of a guy confessing to a priest that he has had sex with a sheep .... and then I feel the urge to post about Lenovo and social media.
Steven O'Grady says it's too hard to keep multiple blogs and to just suck it up and write one. I dunno. I find marketing only blogs to be deathly boring, but they do seem to better read than my personal indulgences.
Yours btw, is far better than 99.9 of the rest.
Good luck with the decision
with that said, i'm certainly no expert on this so take the above with salt. i just started blogging and am still trying to "find myself" as a blogger. if and when i blog more about work (graphic/industrial design, user interaction, communication, whatever) then i might change my mind. until then, it's all just a bunch of wind.
good luck with the new direction.
But as i always say, dont believe anything people tell you to do with your blog... everyone has its own idea of what a blog might be :)
